Local 1059’s Business Manager Brandon MacKinnon was very proud to welcome Wayne Dunn of Business Cares Food Drive to our facility last week to present him with a donation of $25,000.

Business Cares Food Drive is an annual campaign in support of London Food Bank that vows to end hunger in London and area. With the populations of our communities steadily increasing along with factors like inflation and instability taking a toll, demand for the London Food Bank’s resources have skyrocketed. Need increased by 42% in 2023 compared to last year, which translates to approximately 14,000 individuals and numerous social services agencies that depended upon London Food Bank each month.

Local 1059 is proud to step up to the plate in partnership with Business Cares Food Drive to fight hunger in our region. We also attended this morning’s wrap-up event and heard about the incredible 627,000 pounds of food and donations received during this campaign. A huge thanks to our generous community—comprised of our members and their families, signatory employers, and industry partners—who made an incredible number of donations to our collection bins this holiday season.

And of course, a sincere thank you to Wayne and the rest of the dedicated team at Business Cares Food Drive for the good work you do to care for the most vulnerable members of our community.

While the Business Cares Food Drive has wrapped for this year, London Food Bank welcomes donations year round. If you are able to, please consider making a cash or non-perishable food donation to help end hunger in our community by visiting their website: https://www.londonfoodbank.ca/
