Chartered in 1953, the Labourers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) Local 1059 represents workers in London, Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Huron, Perth, Grey and Bruce counties. Working for more than 240 different employers, our approximately 4,000 members include over 2,800 construction and 1,100 maintenance, light manufacturing and security employees.

Local 1059 Wellness Centre

Local 1059 is proud to set the standard for services we offer to our members and their dependents. In 2020, the on-site Wellness Centre at 635 Wilton Grove Road will expand to include a chiropractic/massage studio and dental office in addition to the existing optical centre. These covered services are exclusive to eligible Local 1059 members and their dependents, and will also include no payment for services or out of pocket expenses when you use the Wellness Centre for your optical, dental, and chiropractic/massage needs.

Optical Centre

LiUNA Local 1059 currently offers a complete optical benefit plan to its eligible members and their dependants. The on-site, members-only Optical Centre offers eye exams, frames, lenses, contacts, as well as enhancements like anti-scratch coating and transition lenses. The Local covers all costs up front, so no out of pocket expenses are necessary.

Dental Studio

COMING JANUARY 4, 2021. Beginning November 1, 2020, dental staff will be accepting advance bookings.

Chiropractic, Physiotherapy & Massage Clinic

LiUNA Local 1059 is proud to offer on-site chiropractic, physiotherapy and massage therapy services to members and their eligible dependents. The Local covers all costs up front, so no out of pocket expenses are necessary.

We do this not only by working on infrastructure and buildings, but by providing all workers with greater opportunities, as well as benefits and standards for a better work-life balance, so they can enjoy and contribute to the communities in which they work and live.

United Way Elgin-Middlesex

In 2019, Local 1059 held its 19th annual charity golf tournament in support of United Way Elgin-Middlesex. The tournament raised a record-breaking $130,000, bringing the total amount raised for United Way to over $1.2 million since the Local started hosting the tournaments in 2001.
