3 golf tournaments in 2 days, a record breaking $294,000 raised in 2024, and more than $2 million raised over the 24-year history of our annual tournaments for United Way Elgin Middlesex.

This milestone is only possible because of Local 1059’s incredibly generous community of our members, signatory employers, and industry partners. We’re proud to work alongside so many strong community builders and champions.

A special thank you to Walt Spivak, owner of The Oaks Golf & Country Club for opening up The Oaks and hosting 1 of our 2 concurrent golf tournaments. As a thank you, Local 1059’s Business Manager Brandon MacKinnon presented Walt with a donation to his charity of choice, Smile Zone Foundation.

We’d like to express appreciation for the entire team at United Way Elgin Middlesex, led by Executive Director Kelly Ziegner, for the life affirming work you do within our community to support those who need it most. Thanks, too, for joining us at the tournaments and for your energy and enthusiasm!

3 tournaments means 3 winning teams, so congrats are in order to the winners of our employer and industry partner tournament at The Oaks were Blue Army Contractors – Andrew Thompson, Matt Holmes, Matt Jamieson, and Jordan Cumby. At FireRock Golf Club, Ball Construction took the lead –  Rod Aitken, Jason Ball, Gary Hauck, and Brendon Aitken. And the winners of the members’ tournament at FireRock were Hugo Branco, David De Almeida, Curtis Stuart, and Nelson Dias. Congratulations to all of our other top performing prize winners!
