New Benefits Improvements (Effective September 1st, 2021)
We are very pleased to inform our members of three new improvements to your benefits plan. Effective September 1st, 2021, the following benefits enhancements will be available to eligible members and their dependents:
Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM)
CGM and related supplies (receiver, transmitters & sensors) will now be covered under the current plan provisions with the following frequency limits (estimate required for initial CGM & related supplies):
-Receiver limited to one purchase per lifetime
-Transmitter allowed once every 3 months
-Sensors purchased monthly (maximum of 3 months at any one time)
-The coinsurance will remain at 90% for non-construction members and 100% for construction members.
Laser eye surgery
-Laser eye surgery is now covered at a rate of 75% up to a lifetime maximum of $3,000.00 per person, under both the construction and non-construction benefits plans.
-The Massage Therapy calendar year maximum has increased to $1,800 for services performed at the Local 1059 Wellness Centre or outside of the Local 1059 Wellness Centre, under both the construction and non-construction benefits plans.
-Services performed outside the Wellness Centre will continue to be subject to the existing 80% co-insurance coverage.
-Please note that beginning January 1st, 2022, a referral from a medical doctor will be required for massage therapy.
